CHELSEA are said to be ready to up their bid for Wesley Fofana to £85m, making him the most expensive centre-back of all time.

It is claimed that Tuchel and Todd Boehly are ready to agree the fee Barcelona have requested, as well as paying off the money they owe the Dutchman in unpaid wages.

Marc Cucurella enjoyed a tidy debut after coming on as a late second half substitute against Everton.

The 62million signing looked to get forward at every opportunity in the 1-0 win at Goodison Park.

  • Sarr halfway through Monaco medical

Malang Sarr has reportedly completed the first part of his Monaco medical.

The 23-year-old is set to join the Ligue 1 outfit on loan, with an obligation to buy for £15m depending on how many appearances he makes this season.

Fabrizio Romano reports the defender underwent the first part of his medical this afternoon.

He is now set for more tests tomorrow morning before making the move official.

  • Blues short of Fofana valuation

Chelsea and Leicester are reportedly £10million apart in their valuation of Wesley Fofana.

The Blues want to bring the talented defender to Stamford Bridge, and are claimed to have had two bids for the centre-back rejected by the Foxes.

Fofana himself is understood to be keen on the move.

But the two clubs remain £10m away from striking a deal, according to the Independent.

Leicester are pushing for a deal worth upwards of £80m for the French ace.

  • Paul not happy with Blues

Former Chelsea man Paul Cannoville has said he is “not happy” by the way Chelsea have treated Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The ex-winger says the 21-year-old has been frozen out by the Blues after he was not included in the matchday squad to face Everton.

Cannoville also compared Hudson-Odoi’s situation to that of Tammy Abraham, who left Chelsea to join Roma for regular football.

Cannoville has written on social media: “Nah. I don’t like seeing that!

“Callum being treated like Tammy. Kid bust a gut working through pre season to be fit again from injury.

“Freezing him out ain’t a good look. Nope! Not happy TT [Thomas Tuchel]!”

  • De Jong prefers Blues move

Chelsea and Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong reportedly favours a move to the Blues over the Red Devils.

The midfielder is keen to stay at Barcelona, but could be forced out of the club this summer.

Both Chelsea and United are keen on signing the Dutchman.

And De Jong has admitted the Blues are a “good option” for him if he were to leave Barca, according to Mundo Deportivo.

It’s believed De Jong wants to join a club competing for titles and playing in the Champions League, which the Red Devils cannot currently offer.

  • Hail Cesar – Skipper speaks on new deal

Cesar Azpilicueta has admitted he felt “it was the time” to return to Spain this summer.

The skipper was linked with a move to Barcelona before penning a new two-year deal because he wanted to stay “committed” to Chelsea.

And he told the Evening Standard: “Yes, the conversations were there [with Barcelona], all around the club. After the Club World Cup, where I became the only player to ever win every trophy, [I felt] it was the time to go back to Spain.

“But then everything happened with this club. I wanted to stay committed. I never did anything against my club. We had private conversations where I said everything.

“I have never been in a transfer market situation in 10 years. It was different. The last time was Marseille and this time the contract situation made it different because I had this clause [to extend my deal] after a number of games.

“For a period I was a free agent and who knows what could have happened then? I decided to stay silent because there was already enough noise around me.

“I didn’t want to make it worse because I wanted to stay focused on my game.”

  • Take to the skies Timo

An update on Timo Werner’s impending exit from Stamford Bridge.

The forward is expected to land in Leipzig TONIGHT ahead of a permanent return to Germany.

Werner is set to join his former club in a deal worth a reported £25million.

And he is travelling back to his homeland today in order to put pen to paper, according to Sky Germany.

  • Tuchel reveals dressing room jokes

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has revealed his stars were “joking” with each other at half-time in Saturday’s win over Everton.

The Blues were far from firing on all cylinders – although nobody in the dressing room was too bothered.

Tuchel told the Evening Standard: “Well, we were joking at half-time and saying maybe it is a typical Chelsea game we win 1-0 and Jorgi scored with a penalty.

“It is what it is. I think Raheem [Sterling] will lift Kai [Havertz], Mason [Mount] and [Christian] Pulisic up.

“Our formation is a deep formation because the centre of the formation is in the three centre backs and the two No6s, so it is a deep formation in which you rely heavily on the two wing-backs.”

  • Rangnick talks on Timo transfer

Former Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has said Timo Werner’s return to RB Leipzig “makes sense”.

The Chelsea flop is reportedly set to return to Germany on a permanent deal worth £25million this week.

Rangnick told Sky Germany: “From a sporting point of view, the transfer makes sense.

“Timo has speed and depth. No player in RB has that in the offensive area except [Christopher] Nkunku.

“In order to play at his performance limit, Timo needs trust and the absolute backing of the trainer.

“It’s important for Timo that he plays regularly so that he can get in shape for the World Cup.

“I see him as one of two strikers at his strongest and most effective. [Andre] Silva and [Yussuf] Poulsen could benefit from him.”

  • Malang set for Monaco medical

Malang Sarr is undergoing a medical at Monaco after an agreement was reached with Chelsea for the centre-back.

French football journalist Nabil Djellit reports that the Ligue 1 club have settled on a transfer fee and also agreed terms with the defender.

Sarr will initially move to the principality on loan, but will be under an obligation to make the deal permanent for £15m if conditions are met.

The 23-year-old will return to the French league, where he played with Nice prior to his move to Stamford Bridge in 2016.

The former French U21 international has made 23 appearances during his time with the Blues, and was linked with Fulham earlier this summer.

  • Sterling start for Chelsea debutant

Saturday’s win at Everton was professional if unspectacular, but in Raheem Sterling the Chelsea fans can have high hopes.

The England forward was a regular menace in attack, operating with intent on both flanks over the course of 90 minutes.

Indeed, had it not been for a tight offside call, the 27-year-old would have marked his Blues debut with a goal.

  • Blues Inter Milan’s teen sensation

Chelsea are reportedly set to make a £6.75m bid for Cesare Casadei as they attempt to grab the talented youngster off Inter Milan.

The Blues are impressed with the potential of the 19-year-old and want to make a move for him this window.

But the hot prospect is valued far higher than the amount Chelsea are about to bid.

Corriere Dello Sport report that Inter want closer to £12.5m for the highly-rated teen.

And they face competition from Serie A club Sassuolo, who are also interested in Inter’s young star.

The report states Chelsea and Sassuolo are in an ‘unbalanced head to head’ with the London side having far more financial muscle than their mid-table Italian counterparts.

But Sassuolo may fancy their chances as they are reportedly willing to put in a buy-back clause to satisfy Inter.

Chelsea are believed to have no intention of doing this.

  • Red Devils offered attacker Auba

Frenkie de Jong may be no closer to completing a move from Barcelona to Manchester United – but another player might.

According to The Independent’s Miguel Delaney, the Red Devils have been offered former Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang by the LaLiga club.

And that’s despite Barca boss Xavi revealing last week that the forward would not be leaving the Nou Camp.

United’s initial interest is said to be cool, but that may change given their current attacking crisis.

Chelsea have also been given the opportunity to bid for the Gabonese star, and they may prove a better fit.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel previously enjoyed a great relationship with Aubameyang at Borussia Dortmund, for whom the striker scored 79 goals in 95 games.

  • Celtic ‘interested’ in Blues’ Barkley

Scottish Premiership champions Celtic are ‘interested’ in Chelsea outcast Ross Barkley, according to the Daily Record.

The former England international has been told he can leave Stamford Bridge before the close of the transfer window – and the midfielder is keen on both first team football and the opportunity to play in Europe.

However, the 28-year-old’s wages may be an issue for the Bhoys with Barkley currently earning £100,000-per-week.

Former club Everton are also said to be one of a number of Premier League clubs monitoring the player’s situation.

  • Blues to up Fofana bid

Chelsea will this week tempt Leicester with a third bid for Wesley Fofana.

CBS reporter Ben Jacobs states that the Blues are preparing an increased offer that does not include any player exchange.

The Foxes have already rejected two offers, and have reiterated that the player is not for sale.

However, Fofana is understood to be eager to leave the King Power, and felt that the second approach – thought to be £70m – was a fair one.

The 21-year-old centre-back only signed a new four-year contract with Leicester in January, but was allegedly told that the club would listen to ‘reasonable’ offers.

Jacobs adds that the East Midlanders were not expecting any offers this summer, and have concerns about their chances of finding an adequate replacement.

  • Dortmund rejoin Hudson-Odoi chase

Borussia Dortmund are long-term admirers of Callum Hudson-Odoi, and will make a fresh approach for the forward this week.

The Bundesliga club attempted to bring in the Chelsea ace on loan this time last year, but saw their offer dismissed.

However, according to the Evening Standard, the Blues are now willing to allow the 21-year-old to leave Stamford Bridge.

It is thought that a loan deal is most likely, but the Londoners have not ruled out a permanent sale if a significant cash offer comes in.

Premier League clubs Southampton and Leicester have also been linked with the England international.

  • Jorginho uses head to score

Penalty ace Jorginho proved to be Chelsea’s match-winner on the opening weekend and, in doing so, came out on top in the mind games with Jordan Pickford.

The Italian scored the only goal of the game at Goodison Park from the spot, beating the goalkeeper who had previously denied him in the final of Euro 2020.

And afterwards the midfielder revealed just how he had prepared for the moment, insisting that three quarters of taking a penalty is in the head.

  • Mendy in new contract talks

Edouard Mendy’s representatives are said to be in talks with Chelsea over a new contract for the goalkeeper.

Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth reports that negotiations have begun, but there is a ‘gap’ between the Senegal stopper’s demands and what the club are offering.

The 30-year-old has proved himself to be one of the Blues’ most important performers since arriving from Rennes in 2020.

However, Mendy still has three years to run on his current deal after penning a five-year contract when joining the club.

  • Leipzig to seal Werner deal

Timo Werner’s ill-fated time at Chelsea will come to an end TODAY.

The German international’s return to RB Leipzig will be officially announced this afternoon.

The move back to the Bundesliga will bring an end to Werner’s disappointing two years at Stamford Bridge.

The striker arrived in England with a big reputation but ultimately failed to deliver.

In 56 Premier League appearances for the Blues, Werner scored just ten times.

  • Marcos close to Barca move

Marcos Alonso will complete his long-awaited move to Barcelona this week.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Spanish wing-back will sign on at the Nou Camp after a final fee of less than €10m was agreed.

The Blues are now willing to let the 31-year-old leave after securing the services of Marc Cucurella.

Captain Cesar Azpilicueta was also expected to make the same move, but surprised everyone by U-turning last week and signing a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

  • Blues ‘encouraged’ to land Zaha

Chelsea are being ‘encouraged’ to make a move for Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha.

Thomas Tuchel is on the search for further firepower in attack, and talkSPORT understands that he has been told that the Eagles ace is the perfect fit.

Palace would be unwilling to sell their talisman, particularly to a London and Premier League rival, but know he has just one year remaining on his current deal at Selhurst Park.

And, according to the report, the 29-year-old Ivorian is keen on making the move across the capital to Stamford Bridge.

  • Prem pair chase Hudson-Odoi

Premier League pair Southampton and Leicester are the first clubs to show an interest in Callum Hudson-Odoi after it was revealed the player wants to quit Chelsea.

The Guardian report that the Foxes and Saints are both monitoring the winger’s situation with a loan move away from Stamford Bridge highly likely.

The 21-year-old England international was not included in the Blues matchday squad for their season opener at Everton on Saturday.

Hudson-Odoi is desperate for regular first-team football with November’s World Cup on the horizon.

Leicester’s offer could be of particular interest to Chelsea, who may choose to use their youngster as a makeweight in a move for Wesley Fofana.

  • Morning Chelsea fans

The Blues are ‘going big’ for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong – but have been knocked back over Leicester defender Wesley Fofana.

It’s claimed Chelsea have bid £59m plus Marcos Alonso for Manchester United’s main target De Jong.

And Barca reportedly want Spain wing-back Alonso by TODAY.

Chelsea have also been linked with Barcelona right-back Dest – in what could be a complicated exchange deal.

But the Foxes have reportedly rejected a £63million offer for French centre-back Fofana.

Meanwhile, Stamford Bridge chief Thomas Tuchel and left-back Ben Chilwell both insist the Blues must “improve” despite Saturday’s 1-0 win at Everton.

Chilwell told Chelsea’s website: “We’ve got a lot to work on but the main thing was the three points.

“We’re a team in transition and we’re still trying to work together.”

  • Blues ‘get serious’ over De Jong

Chelsea are “ready to go big” in pursuing Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong after making contact with Barcelona.

That’s according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who also claims the Holland midfielder is in no mood to slash his wages as needed to stay at Barca.

The Red Devils remain favourites to land boss Erik ten Hag’s former Ajax superstar.

And it’s still thought De Jong would prefer to stay with the Spanish giants.

But Romano said: “Frenkie has no intention to accept a salary cut.”

  • Toon fans are stout of this world
